Someone on FB pointed out AWC’s videos explaining what their natural expression is about.
I viewed the first clip. In the first section there is a Natural vs Natural. I have to confess that I don’t see what is unique or outstanding this part is about. It seems to be to be the same wrong things that beginners make in any WC class.
Then they demonstrated an example of what artificial is about by showing a SNT form. I hate to say this but fellas if you are going to give an example then you should pick a third party to illustrate your point. The reason is that the SNT form you should which is supposed to be artificial expression is not even doing justice to what proper “artificial” expression is actually doing in the real world. In statistics this would be akin to injecting your own bias into the data so that you can skewer the results in a certain manner hence proving your point. Guess what, the example of artificial expression you have shown proves nothing apart from the fact that you do seem to know what you are bashing.
After the form you showed an example of natural versus artificial and stated that artificial has no power and follow through. Of course, your point is valid because its biased and skewered as such. Try redoing the video with a third party from so-called artificial style and then perhaps we get a more realistic example which may actually prove that your example here is not really a good example.
I find the section about body awkwardness funny because it again demonstrates that AWC do not understand the very styles they claim are supposed to be doing WC the wrong way. How could they when the body mechanics they use in the video for the practitioner of artificial style is grossly wrong. That’s why I say anyone who has read TIMQ before will know what I am talking about here because you don’t see the refined mechanics of TIMQ in this video at all. So at the very least I can state with 100% accuracy that AWC knows nothing at least about our lineage of WC so as far as we are concerned its all horse#$%@. Those students who have learned AWC and think they got it try going into the real world and see some more and I’ll bet you will then realize that you have been had, hook, line and sinker.
Oh, AWC keeps talking about how powerful their natural expression is. I don’t see it even in a technique as simple as Pak Sao in this drill. I can bet you that if they try what they demo here against practitioners of so-called artificial WC they will be in for a rude shock.
In the second last part of the video they claim to illustrate that artificial strikes has no power against natural expression. How could they when the artificial strikes here are wrong. Try doing it the way I described in TIMQ. Once mastered our TIMQ strikes can send you slamming into the wall. Just ask those who have tried it before.
And as any MMA practitioners will tell you any lousy techniques will work against a compliant, non-resisting partner. Try it against someone who is not so eager to be a dummy and I would be interested to see if it works then. I know of at least one sifu that AWC says they want to shut down first who is eagerly waiting for them to go challenge him or if they give him an address he will happily go to them.
Finally, in the last part they try to demonstrate other style against artificial WC. Again what have they really demonstrated apart from the fact that they are living in a fantasy world and does not understand what artificial is about. Let me remind you of a historical occurrence, back in the early 80s when William Cheung claimed that his TWC was the correct WC only to find that his claims didn’t stand up when a style that would fall under his category of not correct WC sent a student who would be considered 3rd or 4th generation from Ip Man depending on how you classify their founder’s status to challenge him. I still remember the day I went to Saturday class to see students excitedly congregating around the TV to watch a blurry video of two guys fighting. One guy seem to do a hop in the air, landed, tried to throw a strike and got taken to the ground where he was controlled and pounded. Then I found out it was William Cheung who was the guy who got pounded and it was a shock after his claims and all. Plus I had met him and had tea with him and he seemed like a confident guy. So what happened?
Moral of the lesson – every dog has its day so don’t say other styles are bad or incorrect because you never know when its your turn to eat humble pie.
P.S. – I had a look at the 2nd clip too. Their solution of natural expression is to speed up the punches and punch faster to avoid letting another WC style to contact their bridge. I won’t even bother to comment as its obvious how silly their claim of a solution here when this is something that artificial WC is actually doing. In the lineage that TIMQ is about the master has a saying Lut Sao Kin Kung. If you know what this means you would understand that AWC’s claim of solution is nothing new. As old timers would tell you they have probably eaten more salt than a youngster has eaten rice.
