Finally, my student is starting to see how the principles work. It has taken him many years to really open his eyes up but it has not been in vain.
I can understand his obsession with power but power without techniques and other factors won’t be of much use. Sometimes we have to confront ourselves and know our strengths and weaknesses. Without it we are living in a state of self-delusion.
For instance, today I read a thread 1996 Dojo Challenge Match in rumsoakedfist and saw the video that came with it. If we delude ourselves what happened in the video could well happen to us. So let’s not kid ourselves as to what we are really capable of.
Of course, with my student getting it this means that slowly the baton will be passed. And after hearing the news today of GM Wei Shuren’s passing it makes it more imperative that more students must get the transmission otherwise our art will be lost.
The art is only as good as the quality of each generation’s practitioners. We must strive to uphold the principles and never lose them. Only then do we truly honor the opening of the art to the public by GM Wang Yongquan and spread out to the world by GM Wei Shuren.
Rest in peace, Wei Shiyeh (Grandfather Master Wei).
