Master Wei has passed on. However, he has left us his legacy in the form of principles that can vastly improve our Taijiquan skills. These principles are practiced through the form.
In our Yang style the model of the form is created such that each major movement trains the intention in different ways. From beginning to end the use of intention is stressed and must be in place to govern physical movement. Without intention then we are not practicing our Yang style properly.
However, it is not easy for a beginner to keep his attention and awareness engaged throughout form practice. Just to learn to keep focus will take years. This is a reason why our Yang style is easy to learn but difficult to practice.
I should say that if a trainee cannot bring forth his intention and keep it present consistently during his form play then he won’t be able to use intention in push hands.
