This one word described how my student felt about a movement of the foot in Fair Lady Threads Shuttles.
Well, the whole point about kung fu is that it takes practice and it takes time to develop the skill. If it was that easy then one might as well be learning boxing. Hold on, maybe that’s why so many revert to boxing-like type of movements in sparring precisely because they have never spent the time to cultivate that which is not easily performed nor natural on first try.
But if you have done it as long as me then its natural and easy and I proceeded with a hands-on demo of the usefulness of such awkward looking movements which can enable changing of position in the blink of an eye. So sometimes when you try and you try and you still cannot get through your training partner’s defences perhaps this type of seemingly awkward movement is precisely the antidote you need to solve the problem.
Of course, you have to first overcome your natural propensity to want to not practice it. Otherwise, you never know what treasures await you if you never try.
